Being the inventor and most renowned model of the bowl-cut isn’t really something to add to my resume when people are experimenting with these 14 unique and trendy styles.
1. The Man Bun
Obviously the man bun would be first. Who doesn’t wish they would have thought of never getting a haircut, finding a spare rubberband, and calling it a style? Joking aside, the man bun seems to be gaining in popularity as 2018 comes to a close. This low-maintenance, trendy style doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.
2. The Casual Pompadour
A variation of Elvis’s pompadour of old, this stylish look takes just seconds to style and can be worn casually or formally. Practice your pensive, serious demeanor before trying this style.
3. Towering Mohawk
This style would take some extreme hold product, but the creativity behind it makes it stylish, unique, and trendy. A new take on the traditional mohawk, some guys are even daring enough to color and highlight the longer layer.
4. Skin Fade Designs
Let’s be real, Vanilla Ice pioneered haircut designs, but guys in 2018 are bringing them back better than before. There are no limits to what you can design, and the top layer can be any length to achieve your desired look.
5. Faux Braid
This style is particularly eye-catching because it looks like the top layer has been braided, and the way it is styled allows for a strong hold, keeping the hair in place. The long top layer only covers about half of the head, while the rest is cut in a clean, polished fade.
6. Shaggy Layers
Some might call this caveman, but we call it layered. The allure of this look is that it is low maintenance and can be styled for a more professional look when needed. A variation of the ever-popular man bun could probably be achieved with this style, too.
7. Wavy Mohawk
The hairstyle shown here is a variation of the traditional mohawk that has a more model-esque appearance to it as compared to the rock-band look of the usual mohawk. With the sides clipped into a clean buzz, the top layer can be left any length and styled with product and heated styling tools, for those who aren’t blessed with natural waves.
8. Angled Pompadour
With the pompadour style becoming more and more popular, there seems to be a lot of variations out there. This particular look was attention-grabbing because of the unique angle from the front to the back, and the polished look of the front of the pomp. The sides are slightly faded and the top layer is perfectly parted and cut.
9. Textured Quiff & High Fade
With a little dry styling product, this quiff is towering. The texturing adds dimension and sets this style apart from other voluminous trends. The high fade polishes this look.
10. Long Combover (with the manliest beard of all time)
If you weren’t aware that there was such a thing as lumberjack models…now you are. But anyways, the combover is a timeless look and this long variation matches perfectly with the full, groomed beard.
11. Classic Pompadour
I don’t know who looked at John Travolta’s hairstyle in Grease and decided it was time to bring it back, but let’s have a moment of silence to honor that genius. This classic take on an old look is sleek and professional, but tousled and less styled, it can be casual, as well.
12. Curly and Long
Men with curly hair might be unsure how to keep with the trends and work with the hair they have, but here is a stylish solution. Styled with light product and slicked back casually, this style looks polished but casual. The ponytail or bun in the back could be pulled more tightly to make this look sleeker.
13. Braids and Fades
This style is as pleasing as that poetic title. The layer on top is longer like many other trendy looks, but with a unique twist–braids. The braids give this style a sleek, styled look without just a traditional combover or slick back. This look would also be great for athletes looking for style and function.
14. The Fabio
This look is so great because it can really be worn in any way. You have to be pretty daring to try something like this, but it would be relatively low maintenance for a guy with wavy, naturally voluminous hair.
