No matter where you live having the proper headwear is a must for the fall and winter seasons. But what’s “proper” can be defined both my functionality and style, and ideally you can find a way to blend the two. Here are seven different stylish beanies to get you through the colder months. (And in some cases beyond.)
This beanie doesn’t have a cuff or roll on it, which means that you can wear with a slouchy fit as opposed to form fitted on the head. David Beckham is a big fan of rocking his beanies with a slouch, and we can all agree that David knows what he’s doing in fashion and beyond. The cashmere of course adds to the $150 price tag, but it also means that this beanie is going to be as soft as they come. Just be sure to dry clean it, cashmere doesn’t do well in the wash with your dirty gym clothes.
The fisherman style of beanie is a style that is actually going to keep you warm if that’s an interest. They’re often made from wool, although this $22 option from American Apparel is cotton and acrylic. This style is cuffed but shorter in length than say a traditional snowboarding beanie, which means that it looks a bit more put together for the day to day and less like you’re actually about to hit the slopes.
You can really wear a beanie in any color…as long as it matches your outfit. You can pull off wearing a beanie with almost anything as long as it isn’t distracting from the rest of your look. If you’ve got a favorite beige jacket, top it off with a beige beanie as well. Or “camel” as it’s called in this case. You don’t want to look like you just threw a look together ever, but especially not when you’re wearing a beanie which can take on a more casual appearance just by the nature of it.
This Polo Ralph Lauren hat is the real deal in wool. It has a bit of a camouflage print going on but not so much that it looks like an actual piece of military wear. It’s like a chic, stylish nod if you will. This hat works as a neutral with the grey, brown, and green tones, so it can be paired with a lot of different outfits.
If you workout outside you might need a functional beanie to get you through the workout, and this should not be the same beanie that you’re wearing to happy hour. This Nike option is made with the Dri-FIT fabric that will keep you warm and sweat free, while also having reflective elements to keep you visible. It’s also reversible, so it’s like two beanies in one for the price of $17.99.
If you have a hard time finding a beanie that feels like it was fit for your head, you can always try out brands like Armani that offer different sizes. This particular version comes in a really vibrant blue which pairs well with other blues as well browns, but you can also make it work with black and white so it’s more versatile than you might think.
The heathered look of this Dolce & Gabbana is a generally appealing way to soften up blacks and greys when it comes to beanies, as well as t-shirts, sweatshirts, and anything else cozy you might throw on. This version has a ribbed trim without having a fold over brim, which makes it a sleek option to wear when you don’t plan on taking it off inside. It’s a statement piece as much as a functional one.
